Dave Romero  - Chairman Caban Investments UK Ltd | CEO TBL Capital UK Ltd -


Dave qualified as a Professional Accountant (SA) in 1987. He Joined a Corporate Finance Company after qualifying where he got the first taste of Venture Capital. Dave became the Financial Director and later, the Managing Director of Equivest, a Venture Capital Group.

During 1991, Dave established his own Venture Capital Company which was listed on the Johannesburg stock Exchange on the 25th of November 1997. REF Finance and Investment Corporation Ltd focussed on the ICT industry.
Highlights of this company include being ranked 21st in a Business Times top 100 companies survey during 1998, ranked the 40th fastest growing company in South Africa, with investors receiving a 1,800% return over a five year period
The company became a casualty of the October 1998 crash, where the shares tumbled in line with global markets, however Dave listed two more companies during 1999.
After resigning as Executive Chairman from REF Finance and Investment Corporation Ltd Dave went on to pursue a career in consulting and business mentoring.
During 2005, Dave bought into Isibane Holdings (Pty) Ltd, formed a Private Equity company called Isibane Capital Ltd and was elected as the Joint CEO. 2009 saw the merger of the company with Pulse Private Equity. Dave founded TBL Capital utilising his 24 years’ experience in Corporate Finance to assist Entrepreneurs.
Dave is the founder of Caban Investments Ltd, which was conceptualised at the beginning of 2012.

Ben Botes - CEO Caban Investments UK

With nearly 15 years’ experience in both finding and working with technology companies both in the UK and South Africa in leadership, marketing, product and business development roles Ben now overseas the development of Caban Capital PLC, a business geared towards supporting entrepreneurs in a number of markets world-wide.

Ben is the co-founder of Investors Network, SA Business Hubs, My1stBusiness,  SA Business Plans and StartMe, 5 web portals dedicated to entrepreneurs. He holds Master degrees in Psychology and Business Administration as well as qualifications in coaching and mentoring. Ten years ago, Ben became the youngest president of the European Coaching Institute, a body that promotes professional standards and accreditation for coaching and coach training providers in Europe. He is the author of numerous books and e-books on a number of small business issues and has been featured in articles in FinWeek, The Mail & Guardian, The Times and the Wall Street Journal for Europe newspapers. Ben is also currently an associate lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Middlesex University.

Ben's current projects concentrate on the provision and improvement of online networks and resources for first time business leaders and entrepreneurs and he has consulted on these issues for organisations such as Accenture, Hewlett-Packard, Business Link UK, The Prince’s Trust and Shell. He also works as a Coach for a large range of small and medium size enterprises on strategy and innovation, knowledge management, personal effectiveness and network and support system development.
In 2000, after five years as a Management Consultant and Executive Coach, Ben moved to London from South Africa, where he trained as a consultant with the consulting firm and think-tank Future Coaching. Ben spent much of his time working on strategy, innovation and Futures & Scenario Planning, working with large clients such as HMI, an international hospitality and Leisure Company and the Ministry of Defence. Further work with corporate clients include the development and implementation of cultural diversity and leadership development programs in post-apartheid South Africa for ABSA Bank, Brilliant Business Systems and Toyota.

Adelina co-founder of HIRON UK a financial services and consulting firm specialising  in EU related funding and grant activity as well as providing access to key Eastern European markets. At present she is also an International Relations Manager at HIRON - Management Consulting, a Bulgarian-Polish company which operates mainly in CEE countries as a management development practice and EU funding advisory.

Adelina obtained her Master degree from London Metropolitan University as well as a diploma in event management, PR, social media and digital marketing. She has experience from participation in dozens of projects in Portugal, Bulgaria, Poland and England. Adelina started her carrier as a junior consultant, specialised in marketing instruments and advanced to a management consultant in the area of project management and business development.

She participated in the establishment of the Knowledge, Innovation and Strategies Management Club - an NGO supporting the transfer of best practices of knowledge and innovation management into SMEs and supports it by implementing marketing strategies. Gerhard is a “Big Four” (KPMG London and South Africa) trained Chartered Accountant with extensive commercial experience, including due diligence, group reporting, cost reduction, business development and business turnaround for a wide range of industries in an International environment.

 Theo Winckler - Partner at Exceed TBL Accountants -


Theo was born in July 1973 and completed his education, obtaining an Honours degree in Management Accounting in 1996 at the University of Stellenbosch.

Theo started his professional career with the SA listed entity Remgro, after which he became a marketing manager at To-Infinity, a privately owned business. Theo joined Exceed UK Limited in September 2002, where he looks after our individuals requirements and is responsible for personal tax, year end/management accounts and individual offshore structures. Client relationships are very important to Theo and he is prepared to go "the extra mile" for all his clients.

Theo is married to Mari. In his spare time he entertains his little boy and also enjoys the occasional half-marathon or fun-run.
